Summer = Cricket part 2

Michael Clarke won the toss and elected to field.  The Indian opening batsmen Gambhir and Sehwag make their way to the pitch.

It's not long....

before Sachin Tendulkar comes in to take Sehwag's place.  The crowd gave him a standing ovation and the air was tense as they waited to see some of The Little Master's magic.

The Swami Army sang a song dedicated to Tendulkar to the tune of Waltzing Matilda

But it wasn't to be and Tendulkar was returned to the pavilion on 15 runs.

Kohli was the top scorer on 44 runs, India was all out for 161.

The construction workers had a bird's eye view!

Dave Warner on his way to a quick-fire century as we left - he was 104 at stumps.
He ended up making 180.  Australia has this one in the bag!  Or should I say in the baggy green lol.

I've always liked how cricketers are dressed all in white. But now that they wear helmets, shouldn't those helmets be white too? Just sayin' -- colour coordination is important, LOL!

Looks like a fun time! I love live sporting events - the excitement in the air, the food and (hopefully) sun :)

Hi Debra,
The all white does look good doesn't it. I asked an expert (my husband lol) abut the coloured helmets. He said cricket is a very old game and white has always been the uniform for test matches. No helmets were allowed. Now the sport is evolving - there are matches that last only 1/2 a day instead of 5 days and the teams wear coloured uniforms for those. The helmets are in those team colours.

Hi Jane

Yes it was a great day - and there was plenty of sun, I have the sunburnt shoulders to prove it!

Hi Steph,
Thanks for popping in.
