We hopped on an Air New Zealand flight to Christchurch but not before Sanne had to chase us around the airport because Kevin had left behind his jacket containing his wallet and passport! Honestly she looked like an angel appearing from nowhere like that with it!! First thing we did when we got to Christchurch was send her a big bouquet of flowers!!
Anyway, we picked up a little red Corolla hire car and decided to look over Christchurch on the way back. We headed down the east coast and had a couple of stops along the way in quaint little towns. We wanted to get to Dunedin before dark so they were pretty quick stops!
Dunedin was everything I'd imagined plus a bit. It was just magical. Very hilly city and we made a point of going up a big hill to see the city lights once it got dark. Fantastic!! The roads in the centre of Dunedin form an octagon and there is a statue of Robbie Burns in the middle. There are many old buildings and the churches are magnificent. Their art gallery had a Monet so I was very impressed!! We ate dinner at a fantastic bar/cafe called the Ra Bar. We both tried Bluecod and drank Pure Steinlager. The meal was lovely and there was a bluesy rock band playing. It was a gorgeous evening :)
