Thursday 6th March 2008 cont....

After Dunedin and the Catlins, Invercargill was very disappointing! We stopped to have a walk around the city centre and even the shopkeepers made us feel unwelcome :( So we jumped back in the car and headed north towards Queenstown. We hoped to get there during the afternoon for good photo opportunities! The drive was lovely through farmlands and orchard country and then slowly winding our way up into the mountains that surround Queenstown. The drive around the lake is just awesome, quite a windy road but we took our time and stopped to take photos. We arrived in Queenstown late afternoon. It's a very busy and touristy place so but we decided to stay there for dinner. We found a little Indian restaurant before walking through the town centre. There was a pipe band playing and a juggler amusing the crowds. We chose not to stay overnight in Queenstown (too exxy) so we headed to Cromwell, 52 kms inland. We had booked a park home - wow, I've never seen one so spacious as this one! It was like a 5-star hotel room!
