Easter Camping Trip

I love the long Easter break and it's the perfect weather to visit the south coast for camping.  I had been looking forward to this trip for months and was devastated when Kevin thought he may have to go north for work and we wouldn't be able to go.  But the gods smiled upon me and the work was delayed :)  So we packed the car on Thursday night and headed off around 6.30 on Friday morning.  We like to avoid the crowded highways so we took as many backroads as we could.  This is where we stopped to enjoy a cuppa on the way

Not another car in sight :)  I wish you could smell the eucalypts and hear the birds.

We arrived in Ravensthorpe around 2.30 pm and met the other campers.  After a quick cuppa we headed off towards Hopetoun, hoping that one of the two campsites near the beach would be vacant.  It was not to be.....both sites were occupied :( so we camped along the track about 100 metres from the beach.

Next morning, we went for a walk along the beach and saw one group leave!  So we quickly occupied the site and moved all our gear down.  No small feat as we had 4 vehicles, a camper trailer and all the associated equipment!

This was our reward:

 Our private beach

and a full moon over the ocean.

Some very happy campers

In 6 weeks time we are all heading off together again, this time north to Coral Bay.  If Easter weekend was anything to go by, we'll have a great time :)

Really great pics. Looks like you had a fab time :) Those side roads are gorgeous, love the color of the soil. Had it recently rained? Your private beach spot is sooo lovely. What kind of temps are you getting this time of year?

A great trip! I'm looking forward to the Coral Bay adventure as well. I can't believe the baby blue eyes!

It rained last week Jane, but I'm not sure how much they got down there. It was 22 - 23oC while we were there but the day we left it got to 32! It's been quite warm here at home ever since....27o today. It is a gorgeous spot, so close to the beach and hardly another soul around.

Bill are you saying you didn't know what colour eyes your baby has?! lol
