Tree planting

Part of our business is re-vegetating a farm back to natural bushland.  So every winter we employ some backpackers and our son and off we go, spades in hand and raincoats at the ready :)

Finally, after a mammoth effort, we have finished this year's planting of 5000 tree seedlings.  Here's a few pics but unfortunately I didn't get one of Mary from Ireland :(

Mark from Scotland modelling the latest in planting wear :)
Kevin about to lay the trees out ready for planting.
Our son Craig, channelling the Man from Snowy River.
Me and the infamous red buckets.  Boy were they heavy when they were filled up with baby trees!

I can't tell you how relieved I am that it's all done!

It must be exhausting! You must feel a great sense of achievement though when it is done.

Tree planting is a tough, tough gig. Hard work that is not for the faint of heart, I know.

5000 saplings... what a huge undertaking! Tree planting is very hard work - I used to make extra money picking pine cones (my father was a logger) - all I remember are the heat and flies - ugh!

5000 trees. Wow, I am impressed.
Do you like the children's story, The Lorax by Dr. Seuss? I hope you do!

It was a wonderful sense of achievement Tracey, especially when the previous years' plantings are thriving. Some have been frost bitten though and some have died of drought.

Yeah it was touch Debra and you speak with inside knowledge by the sound of it!

My father was also involved in the logging industry Jane, as was my husband. Luckily there are not many flies around at this time of year and it definitely wasn't hot! Where did the pine cones go?

I love The Lorax Kay, it's a great story :)
